Use of plasma cutting consumables: good electrodes and bad nozzles

If the electrode is almost new and the nozzle is bad, the possible cause is that the nozzle has a double arc. This happens if the plasma arc touches the nozzle and melts the copper material in the nozzle mouth.
Damage on the inside of the nozzle, such as grooves or perforations, indicates that the pressure of the plasma is too low. This allows the plasma arc to contact the nozzle. Check whether the air circuit leaks through the booster device, and check all devices with soapy water.
External nozzle damage is often a problem with the height of the cutting gun to the cut workpiece.
First, check the perforation height, which should be 2 times the cutting height to avoid splashing slag. Perforation is too low, is the main cause of nozzle damage. Check for proper gun height control. If the cutting gun touches the plate during perforation, or the cutting gun touches the plate during cutting, the nozzle will quickly break down. If the nozzle looks hot, discolored, blue or black, check the protective gas path. The protective gas path helps cool the nozzle and protects the front end of the cutting gun.
Case 3: The electrode is bad/the nozzle is good. If the nozzle is good and the electrode has deep concentric pits, the plasma gas flow rate may be too high. If the vortex gas is too large, the material will be consumed faster. This results in rapid electrode wear. Check plasma gas flow.
Case 4: If the consumable parts seem to be new, and the cutting gun cannot arc, and the new consumables can arc, the problem is not the life of the consumable parts, it is forced arc. Often, good electrodes and good nozzles are damaged by arcing failure. Forced arcing is caused by excessive plasma pressure. Often, when we cut the arc of the gun, we hear the crackling sound.
